Summer Reading Done

I started "What is the What" earlier this summer incorrectly thinking my beach time would be enough to finish it. But I didn't complete the book until Saturday, Nov. 24, long after i last sat on a beach in my swimming suit and soaked up the rays.

The book wasn't a page-turner, but it was a really interesting read. If you've not read it, it certainly is worth the time.

But what to read now? I have a few books on my list, but I've also thought about re-reading some books I enjoy, or complete a few author collections. I think I'll be doing that with the collection by Kafka.

I don't think I ever read the book entirely, but he was referenced in a TV show I've been watching on DVD - Futurama or perhaps Arrested Development. I can't recall.

But a collection of short stories seems to be the way to go during the holiday insanity ...

Celebrating 500

This is post 501 and will have nothing to do with jeans, but such inanity has shown up in a good many of these 500 posts. Probably some that I'm too embarrassed to even read or share with people, but I'm keeping them up anyway.

This bitch of a week did not get better Saturday as my labors of preparing for the return of the housemates from Hawaii just depressed me even more.

But that didn't really hit full force until after spending 30 minutes sitting in the kitchen with a pot of soup ready, salad mixed, hot roast beef simmering and waiting for their arrival.

The problem was, once they landed the head of the pack had time to throw insults but not respond to my question of "when will you be home." Three phone calls were also ignored, even though they were in a taxi on their way and certainly able to pick up the phone.

So, here it is Sunday and 9 days into this nonsense.

I had planned on having my Web site redesigned a little while ago, but it looks like that won't be happening for a good while now.

I'm about 2 chapters into a book on CSS, but I guess that once I get through the book, I may be able to do my own blog page and keep the design, or lack thereof (?), consistent throughout.

The Worst Week in Recent Memory

Since last Friday each day has heaped on shit and stress. On a personal level it started after I got to work and continued through most of some people's Hawaii vacation.

On Monday it started with work and that doesn't seem like it's going to end this week or the beginning of next.

Also, on Saturday my problems from Hawaii return home.

A week ago I wasn't even thinking about a vacation, but wow, do I need one now!

Exercise Your Right

It's Election Day today and I did my part at just a few minutes before 10 a.m.

Three hours into the polls being opened and I was No. 78 at my location. I'm not sure if that's good or bad.

If you don't use your right to vote, are you really losing it when it's taken away?
